What is WP Snooper and what does it do?
WP Snooper is a tool used to scan WordPress websites to determine which themes and plugins are installed and activated. Head over here and enter a web address to start a scan. Top tip, you can enter wpsnooper.com for a quick test!
How does it work?
WP Snooper fetches the HTML source of a website and detects the WordPress theme and plugins using various methods.
Will it work with non-WordPress websites?
Some data will still be collected (such as IP, Host, Server Software and screenshots) but themes and plugins will not be detected.
Will this tool detect every plugin?
No, it’s not possible to detect every plugin. Plugins that do not add any stylesheets or scripts to the front-end of the site cannot be detected using this tool.
Will it work with WordPress.com blogs?
While the tool was built to work specifically with WordPress.org websites, the tool will generally detect most plugins and some themes on WordPress.com blogs.
Here’s a link to an article explaining the difference between the two.
What data is stored?
The tool caches website sources, screenshots, headers, theme & plugin CSS and WordPress plugin repository data. To clear the cache and scan again, click the rescan button.
